Bristol Panama, a Registry Collection Hotel

We came to Panama to celebrate a birthday as a large family taking 6 rooms at the Bristol. We chose the hotel due to the wonderful reviews. 2 of the rooms adjacent to each other smelled like sewage and were not clean. Yes, they switched the rooms the next day but offered no compensation for the night lost in a dirty smelly room. Lots of empathy and platitudes and please contact us and we will do something for you only for Kathya not to return my email. We loved our trip but would defiantly not return to the Bristol
Wow. What has happened to the Bristol? We spend 10-12 nights a year in PC, going back and forth to Bocas. The Bristol was our favorite hotel in PC, even over the JW. I’ve left 5 star reviews previously. We don’t often stay at the Bristol because it’s usually expensive. We managed to get a room at a decent price, so we decided to stay. When we checked in we were told breakfast was going to be an additional $50. For breakfast? It’s been included in the past. OK, we were going to eat at the hotel restaurant for dinner that night, and so we decided not to. Then they dumped us in room 500. When I say “dumped “, I also mean the room was a dump. Mold in the shower, mismatched hardware everywhere, cracked walls and most importantly beds with a valley in the middle of them. The mattresses are well beyond replacement time. I wouldn’t stay in that room again if it was free. I’ve stayed in 1 star motels that were much better. We went to the bar after dinner, where we’d always had a great time. It was nearly empty, with 2 bartenders/waiters. We sat at the bar. After 15 minutes of zero service, we went elsewhere. Just not a good experience. We won’t be back. We could have had a giant suite at the RIU for less.
In addition to the beautiful property, huge room and jetted tub, big tv….. The reservation manager, Jesus S was fantastic. He corrected my booking error which should have cost me $400. No charge! The restaurant was great. Best burger ever. Looking forward to return trip.
Stayed for a total of three nights after arrival and before departing from Panama. The Bristol was perfect for that. Staff were super helpful with storing some luggage, receiving a package and a late checkout before our flight home. Rooms we had were ok, a little dated perhaps, but perfectly maintained and spotlessly clean. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast buffet is extensive plenty of fresh and healthy options. Kids loved it. The pool is small and was rather cold, ok for a few short laps. 5 stars due to the very friendly and genuinely helpful staff and considering the good price-quality ratio. Recommended!
I stayed at the Bristol Panama for five nights across two visits, with friends. The rooms were comfortable, stylish, and very pleasant — but my experience with service was mixed. During my first stay, on New Year’s Eve, I encountered several delays. Despite the hotel bar not being very busy, service was slow — one food order was forgotten, and the receipt took an unusually long time to arrive. We also requested a bottle of champagne for the terrace of the hotel bar via room service at 11 PM — a special request, but one I expected to be handled seamlessly at a 5-star hotel. We had to ask two or three times before it was delivered — just 10 minutes before midnight. The next day, I asked for an additional laundry bag and the form to fill out for laundry service. It took two calls and a personal visit to reception to finally get what I needed — which was disappointing, especially given the level of service expected. During my second stay, the service was smooth and without issues — no room service was needed, so I didn’t experience any further problems. I want to acknowledge that the reception staff were consistently professional, courteous, and helpful throughout both visits. They handled all interactions with care and made a strong positive impression. While the room and staff were excellent, the inconsistencies in service during my first stay were a letdown — especially since the bar wasn’t busy. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously to improve overall.
