Outdoors, the experience transforms entirely—vibrant, colorful, and energetic, with a refined rooftop ambiance reminiscent of Los Angeles. The panoramic cityscape elevates the setting into something memorable and visually striking. Service begins with a minor lapse in coordination. Despite a reservation for the outdoor terrace, there was an initial attempt to redirect seating indoors. While quickly corrected, it suggests a slight disconnect in front-of-house organization. At the table, the experience finds its rhythm through Diego Romero, supported by Jezreel. Diego stands out for his attentiveness and professionalism, checking in consistently and ensuring the table remained well cared for throughout the evening. His presence anchors the service in a positive direction and deserves recognition. There were, however, a few operational missteps. A margarita was mistakenly delivered as a mojito-style drink. While the error did not originate with Diego, he was proactive in addressing it and confirming guest satisfaction. Still, as a team, tighter execution would elevate the overall experience. Similarly, a steak ordered medium-well arrived closer to medium or medium-rare. While still enjoyable, it reflects another instance where precision fell short of expectation. These details, though individually minor, accumulate in a setting that positions itself as a higher-end dining experience. Presentation is thoughtful and occasionally playful. The check is delivered in a circus-style container—an artistic touch that may feel charming to some, though slightly at odds with the otherwise sophisticated rooftop aesthetic. A more successful detail is the takeaway presentation: food is carefully packed and returned in a branded tote bag, adding a memorable and polished finishing touch. Had a really great experience at Filomena Cucina di Mare in Panama City definitely one of the best Italian seafood spots I’ve tried lately and even better to find it when on holiday. Everything felt fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. The standout for me was the Risotto Frutti di Mare it super flavorful with perfectly cooked seafood and a rich, creamy texture without being too heavy. The Fritto Misto was also a hit: light, crispy, and not greasy at all, which is exactly how it should be. I also tried the Roasted Broccolini, which was a great side, simple but really well seasoned and a nice contrast to the richer dishes. Overall, great quality ingredients, solid execution, and a menu with plenty of options. Would definitely come back and try more dishes next time.
This place truly delivers a 5 star experience. It was probably one of the best meals we had in Panama. Every dish was prepared just right, and served with elegance and style.
Filomena was the best meal we had in PTY. PTY in general seems to do Italian food extremely well, and Filomena clearly takes the craft very seriously. We ordered three pastas and one appetizer. The green lasagna is really unique. It’s a layered lasagna with lots of melty cheese that’s cut into a slab and then pan fried, served on a green emulsion. My large ravioli filled with mushroom and runny egg yolk was a standout dish, so good I drank every last drop of the sauce! The pork ragu pasta was also very tasty. While the tuna tiradito appetizer was a bit underseasoned for my taste and forgettable, the pasta dishes blew us away. Service was very attentive. Highly recommended!
