I do not say this lightly, but La tapa del coco is the best restaurant in Panama right now. Their one-pot is definitely the star of the menu but genuinely every item is crafted to showcase Panama finest flavours. Service was impeccable with amazing attention to details, the conversations about food really shows how every employee takes pride in working in this fine establishment, just a perfect 10/10.
We loved everything about this place. The owner, Isaac introduced himself and greeted our group, we were sat at the chief's table. Our waiter, Jose, was pleasant, knowledgable about the food, and gave us a brief Panamanian history lesson. He suggested the family style dinning which afforded us the ability to taste almost everything. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their evening and their food!!!! Everything was delicious.
10/10... Tapa Del Coco never disappoints! This was actually our second visit. The first time we came for a late dinner, the food was incredible, but unfortunately our server went home before we received our check, leaving us waiting around for nearly 30 minutes. Even with that experience, the food was so good that we knew we had to give them another shot. I'm so glad we did! We stopped by for lunch, and from the moment we arrived, everything was outstanding. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, making it the perfect place to enjoy a conversation. The staff was incredibly friendly and patient as we asked questions about the menu. They were attentive throughout our meal—clearing plates promptly, replacing napkins and utensils, and making sure we had everything we needed. We started with the Patty de Carne and Patty de Pierna Ahumada, and both were absolutely delicious. But let's talk about that cilantro sauce... 🤤 I could literally drink it by itself. 🤣 It paired perfectly with everything we ordered! For our entrées, we had the One Pot Colonense, Pulpo Coll Tong with tostones, Pesca del Día with arroz con coco y frijoles, and the La Savannah Burger. Every single dish was packed with flavor. My mom's Pulpo Coll Tong was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and easily one of the best dishes on the table. My husband loved the One Pot Colonense, which was rich and delicious, though I will mention it's on the sweeter side for anyone considering it. I ordered the Pesca del Día, and it was cooked perfectly. Fresh, flaky, and absolutely delicious. The arroz con coco y frijoles is one of my favorite rice dishes, and they absolutely nailed it. It was perfectly seasoned and paired beautifully with the fish. The tostones were enormous and fried to crispy perfection. Add a little of that incredible cilantro sauce on top... 🤤 Let's just say I understand why people keep coming back. And, in true teenage fashion, my son ordered another burger. 😂 This time it was the La Savannah Burger, and he was in heaven. It looked juicy, messy, and packed with flavor, and according to him, it was top-notch. To top it all off, my mom and I ordered the Coconut Mojitos, and wow... they were dangerously good. 👀🤣 I easily could've had several. Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants in Panama City. Between the incredible flavors, attentive service, and relaxed atmosphere, Tapa Del Coco has earned a permanent spot on my list. I'll continue coming back every time I visit Panama City!
Went there for late lunch/early dinner. We got the oxtail stew and one pot. Both dishes had incredible flavor which I don’t get to say too often. Top-notch food with very talented chefs. Definitely wanna come back before we leave (will update review). Food was easy 5/5 stars. Only had water so cannot comment on any drinks. Atmosphere was above average with indoor/outdoor seating, great air conditioning, and mini-bar outside. Area is a bit run down, but seemed safe during the day and early evening. Also had security guard outside just in case. Parking seemed challenging but luckily we Uber’d. Service was above average, a bit slow at times. The staff spoke both English and Spanish- told customers about food and chefs with some history. Prices were great considering the high-quality dishes. A must go-to if staying in Panama City just for the great food! Overall: 4.5/5 Food: 5/5 Drinks: NA Atmosphere: 3.5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Price: 5/5
One of the best meals we've ever had. Staff were so friendly and attentive, we were very grateful they spoke English. Wonderful atmosphere. All dishes we had were so incredibly flavourful and had wonderful textures playing together. We had the smoked pulled pork patty, cod fritters with the berry sauce, Calypso burger, one pot Colonense, pear mamallena dessert, lemonade with cane honey and pineapple refresher. So glad we were able to get a reservation, highly recommend. We will return any chance we get to be in Panama.
