Me and the wife heard about this gem. Decided to take the cheap boat ride to it and found one of the coolest places I been. Shawn and kim the owners were the best people. When you get there you feel at home. Food to drinks and whole vibe is 10/10. If your anywhere close to boca del toro its worth the stop. Thanks again Shawn and Kim and we will see you soon
This Floating Bar is a Monday night gem! The owners are the kindest people, with such a welcoming presence; you’ll want to go back again and again (we did, and will come again when we visit the islands on future trips). The place is a simple floating dive bar just a short boat ride from Bocas town. On Monday nights when the rest of Bocas dies down to regroup, they set it off with live music and drink specials. We had such a good time. The drinks are delicious, the view is gorgeous, they offer pool noodles and snorkeling gear for free, plus the upper deck is an excellent vantage point to watch the sunset on any night. Need local insights? Just ask and they will help you navigate and elevate your Panama experience. They really know their way around, while remaining cognizant of what they don’t; not to mention respecting/supporting the local businesses and culture. Love this place and these people!
They don’t call this The World Famous Floating Bar for nothing. It is truly unique, just a 5 minute panga ride from pretty much anywhere in Bocastown. And, yes, panga ride ($3) because it is a FLOATING BAR. The two story bar is afloat and is flanked by two sun docks. Enjoy a cocktail or cerveza, one of their famous tacos, swim off the dock, snorkel to the nearby mangroves, or just go upstairs and relax in the shade, watching the pangas and sailboats and ferries sail by while waiting for a spectacular sky show at sunset. Owners Aaron and Sean, and bartender Brogan, are only happy to oblige. On our recent visit, I had a shot of whiskey in honor of St. Patricks day and just mentioned in passing that it would be nice to have more whiskey and bourbons available. We went back after a tour two days later and discovered that Brogan had gone out the next day and stocked up, hoping specifically that we would return. They are in the midst of an expansion and some repairs after a recent storm, so are still waiting on some more deck and lounge seating…but your first visit there and you will feel like a regular…or so says the couple we met from Canada who were there for the first time but when asked said…yes, we are regulars…even though this is our first visit. Other customers will help you dock your boat, welcome you aboard…and make you feel right at home. The World Famous Floating Bar…a must see in Bocas del Toro.
Just a short water taxi ride ($3) from Bocas town. Roof top seating plus swimming and picnic tables. Great vibe, friendly owners.
We had the best day at The Floating Bar. Chilled vibe and there is space to be in the shade, or in the sunshine. We had fun jumping off the top into the beautiful water below. Enjoyed great good and cocktails. My daughter dropped her camera in the water as we were leaving…..and the owners found it and brought it to us in Bocas town! They were super nice and went above and beyond to help us. Would highly recommend this as a fun and relaxed place to hang out.
