Great choice for the day of my arrival into Panama. The good was very delicious. The drink was okay, I’ve had better rum punch but I won’t complain. The service was very slow but that was to be expected with only one person working up front and most likely in the back too. I wouldn’t recommend for a quick bite but highly recommend if you’re in the area and have plenty of time. I will definitely be back.
The food was pretty good. We had the oxtail pasta, jerk chicken, and oxtail and rice. We also had some sweet plantain on the side with cocktails. The most annoying thing was that the person sitting next to us (who I think must have been the owner or manager) was having series of video calls without head phones and loud talking throughout our entire meal. Towards the end of our visit, we had to wait for our check as the waitress was socializing with her friend who walked into the restaurant. Overall, the ambience was nice and we took a few photos on the swing. My advice to staff is to be a bit more attentive to clientele.
If you ever find yourself in Panama City, do yourself a favour and visit Island Escape Restaurant & Lounge. We came here as tourists from London, and honestly the food here beats most Jamaican restaurants back home and that is saying something. We had the curry goat and the shrimp pasta, both absolutely incredible. The curry goat was rich, tender and full of flavour, exactly how it should be. The shrimp pasta was a great twist and did not disappoint either. But it is not just the food. The vibe in this place is great, warm and relaxed with a real Caribbean feel to it. The service was friendly and attentive without being over the top. Everything just came together perfectly. Easily a 10 out of 10. We will definitely be back next time we are in Panama City. Highly recommend!
Your restaurant is amazing I made the mistake of coming for dinner after a 10 hour tour as I didn’t want bland hotel food. 10 mins after I sat down and ordered I realized it should have been a different day. I love Jamaican food and was so excited when I saw this place close to Novotel. Thank you for making it takeaway for me If you are a tourist - I highly recommend this place. It’s a 4 min walk. Huge portions, delicious flavour. Best stamp and go Just be prepared to wait. Being Canadian I am not used to waiting as we walk out if food is not in front of us within 30mins. That is on us.
