Description
Isla Asserya is surrounded by small islands and attractions such as a Natural Pool, Isla Aguja, and a snorkeling reef. The island’s accommodations consist of shared cabins with 4 to 7 beds each and shared bathrooms with showers and toilets located nearby. Electricity is available only from 6pm to 6am.
Meals include breakfast with fresh fruit and 'Ojaldre' (fried bread), and lunch and dinner featuring fresh fish or chicken with plantains and salad. Vegetarian options are available. Guests should note that accommodations and services are basic and resemble camping conditions, managed by the indigenous Kuna community.
Itinerary
- If selected during checkout, roundtrip transportation from Panama City lodgings to Port of Carti is available, starting between 5:00am and 5:45am. The 2.5 to 3-hour drive passes through jungle highlands, with possible wildlife sightings and a grocery stop for snacks and drinks.
- At Port of Carti, a “lancha” boat carries guests to Isla Asserya in about 15 minutes. The boat ride may be bumpy and have ocean spray depending on conditions.
- After arrival and cabin check-in, guests can enjoy the beaches and meet the local Kuna family.
- Lunch is served around 12:30pm, with fresh catch or vegetarian options.
- Day 2 is a beach day with optional snorkeling on the nearby reef (mask rental extra).
- On Day 3, check-out is at 8:00am. Guests have the morning free before joining an island boat tour after lunch to visit nearby islands and the Natural Pool, a waist-deep sunken island.
- The tour ends around 3:00pm, returning to Port of Carti for the drive back to Panama City, arriving by approximately 7:00pm.
