Located over 5,250 feet (1,600 meters) above sea level, this apiary is surrounded by coffee plantations and native vegetation. The experience offers a comprehensive tour of the apiary, home to various bee species. Knowledgeable bilingual guides provide insights into the history, habitat, care, and breeding of bees.
The tour explains the role of bees as essential pollinators in tropical and subtropical forests and their environmental and human benefits. Participants will observe the inner workings of a hive, including honey storage, egg-laying, and natural development.
A short 20-minute hike leads to the beehives. Observations include watching bees collect pollen from different flowers in the area.
