Description
The Geisha Coffee Tour Experience offers you the chance to discover a legendary, world-renowned coffee, celebrated for its delicate floral aromas, bright acidity, and remarkable complexity. Originally from Ethiopia, the Geisha variety began to be cultivated in Panama in 2004—following a pest outbreak—due to its resilience. Since then, it has enjoyed a global surge in popularity, winning both local and international coffee competitions. It also commands staggering prices at auction, reaching as much as $30,204 per kilogram in a 2025 auction!
Visit a working coffee plantation in Volcancito, Boquete, where you can see Geisha coffee alongside six other varieties. Each possesses its own unique flavors, characteristics, and cultivation requirements. Touring the plantation allows you to see the coffee at its source and understand what makes Boquete such a special place for growing it; this region of Panama enjoys a unique climate that is ideal for coffee production.
Your guide will explain every stage of the coffee process: from cultivation and harvesting to processing, roasting, and brewing. This interactive tour allows you to observe how the coffee is processed and even roast your own beans. The experience concludes with a guided tasting session, where you will learn to identify aromas and flavors, as well as the differences between the various varieties. Here, you can savor Boquete’s Geisha coffee without having to pay its high market price!
