Highlights
- Snorkel in the Caribbean Sea
- Visit Portobelo's historic sites
- Relax by Caribbean beaches
Description
Departing at 7:30 AM from Panama City, the tour arrives in Portobelo around 9:00 AM to prepare for snorkeling activities. The first snorkeling spot is a small beach across Portobelo Bay, where participants can explore coral reefs and observe marine wildlife in clear, shallow waters.
The second snorkeling site is a nearby reef wall close to shore. The reef lies near the surface with deep blue water as a backdrop. Experienced snorkelers can dive deeper along the wall to explore diverse underwater ecosystems. These waters are historically significant, connected to pirate legends such as Captain Morgan and Sir Francis Drake.
After snorkeling, enjoy time on the beach before returning to the mainland for a chance to rinse off and change clothes. Lunch is served by the sea.
The afternoon includes a guided tour of Portobelo, featuring an old fort with cannons, the recently reopened Customs House and museum, and the Iglesia de San Felipe to view the Cristo Negro statue. The tour concludes with a return to Panama City.
