Club de Golf Panama
Shortly after the signing of the Armistice, a few officers of the army and the army who sought expansion in their leisure time, began to remember the golf they had played in the United States and yearned for the pleasure of playing their favorite sport again.
Admiral Marbury Johnston, Colonel Landers, Colonel Morrel and Raul Espinosa were on horseback riding the Savannahs when one of them jokingly suggested that this place would be ideal for a golf course. And so it was like a comment made in jest, the seed of golf was raised in Panama.
These gentlemen, speaking after this issue with other friends, decided to meet with all those who were interested in implementing this real and ancient game in Panama. Sixteen of the faithful attended the meeting that was held at the Tivoli Hotel.
The sixteen apostles of golf, as they were later called, on Christmas Eve, 1918, with premeditated malice, determined to smuggle in the wise and upright citizens of Panama, a Golf Club.
