We recommend to call the visitor center before going and ask about the ships' transit schedules. They will provide you the information necessary to be sure to see them transiting live, instead of by video that they will show you if there is no ship at the time of your visit.
Things to do in Panama
Miraflores Locks is where all the inbound and outbound traffic from and to the Pacific side of the canal is controlled. Due to its proximity to Panama City, the government implemented this magnificent center for you to witness the engineering marvel.
The visitor center has three observation decks with a front row view of the ships transiting the canal and the Panama Canal Museum with four exhibition halls for you to learn everything you need to know about the Panama Canal history, current operation and the expansion project.
In addition, it offers facilities for your leisure such as snack bars, a restaurant and a souvenir shop.
