Panama managed to get on the podium of the Youth Olympic Games, which take place in the Argentine city of Buenos Aires, and does so with a gold medal won by Marissa Thompson.

The athlete, 16 years old, got the gold medal in the equestrian team jump test, being part of the continental group of North America.

This team, made up of representatives of Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, the United States and Panama, exceeded in the final round those of Europe and Africa. A medal is added to each country in the general table.

This is the third edition of the Youth Olympic Games and Panama appears for the first time in its history in the medals table.

The Panamanian delegation attended the event organized by the International Olympic Committee with 16 athletes.
