After the success of the pilot edition, we celebrated the second convocation of the Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International, an initiative organized by the Panama International Film Festival and the Locarno Festival.

The objective of this workshop, which will take place from March 29th to April 1st in the framework of the ninth edition of IFF Panama, is to help young industry professionals focused on sales, marketing, online and traditional distribution, exhibition and programming (festival, film club, museum, cinematheque) to understand the challenges of the independent film industry within the Central American, Latin American and international scene.

Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International will offer a group of 8 participants from Panama, Central America and the rest of Latin America the opportunity to meet with international speakers, tutors and guests, as well as fully enjoy the IFF Panama experience, covering their accommodation, lunches and a festival accreditation.

The Industry Academy, which was first launched at the Locarno Festival in 2014, is a program for young professionals working in the different fields already described; and has been created to help them position themselves in the film industry and to allow them to interact directly with regional and international industry professionals and key players.

The program also acts as a shortcut for a generation entering the independent film industry, encouraging their progress, helping them to better understand the challenges and expand their network, and thus also seeks to build bridges between different markets in Europe, North America and Latin America.

The call for applications to the Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International 2020 opens from January 27 to February 14 for young professionals preferably already working with an established company, or having significant experience in the above mentioned fields.
