Top Rated - Restaurants in Panama

Looking for the best places to eat in Panama? This list features restaurants that earned their reputation through strong ratings and plenty of genuine traveler reviews, not just occasional five-star nudges. These spots see regular diners who appreciate the food and the vibe season after season, neighborhood by neighborhood.

Most of these restaurants are clustered around popular areas like Casco Viejo and Avenida Balboa, so if you’re exploring downtown or nearby neighborhoods, you’ll have solid options close at hand. One tip: try to visit during weekday evenings or early weekend lunches to avoid long waits. Visitors often rave about the consistency and atmosphere here, plus locals like that they get something real, not overly touristy. These are tested spots, praised by people who’ve actually been in Panama’s heat and humidity and still come back for more.

Local dining tip

If you’re spending time in Casco Viejo and want to experience top rated food without the wait, try heading out for lunch rather than dinner. Many of the best reviewed spots stay lively throughout the afternoon, but the crowds tend to slow down after peak dinner hours. Also, Panama’s climate means dining outside can be much more enjoyable in the dry season between December and April, especially in areas like Avenida Balboa where you get great views. This can add a nice touch to the experience that shows in visitor reviews.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about Panama’s top rated restaurants.

These picks come from traveler reviews with strong overall ratings backed by many visitors, not just a few one-off perfect scores. That means you’re seeing places that genuinely impress a wide range of people.

Many top rated spots are found in central neighborhoods like Casco Viejo or Avenida Balboa, so you can often plan your meals without traveling far each day.

Some popular places fill up on weekends or holidays, so making a reservation can save you time, but weekday visits usually have more availability without booking.

Many with high traveler ratings do offer options for various diets but it’s wise to check menus or ask in advance if you have specific needs.

Early dinners around 6 pm or lunch on weekdays often mean you’ll avoid the busiest times and enjoy better service.

Most come with a range of prices that travelers appreciate. You’ll find both budget-friendly and splurge-worthy options on the list.
